LEXIS Embedding the meaning of the datas in the storage can improve the consistency of the stored information and simplify the its exchange: the semantic structure is defined through a strong semantic typing of the data and the use of external dictionaries.

Datas without meaning are useless. Usually databases store datas, while their meanings are weakly embedded through naming conventions, not uderstood by other systems, and poorly uderstood by other humans. Embedding the semantic structure of the datas in the storage system can improve the consistency of the stored information and simplify the exchange of it. The semantic structure in LEXIS is defined through a semantic typing of the data and the use of external and common RDF and ontologies dictionaries. This may eventually allow software agents to exchange datas between different systems using dictionaries for understanding and converting the information.
